Famous for its picturesque landscape, Bangus valley in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir is being developed as a tourist destination at an investment of Rs 2.31 crore.
Replying to a question in the assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig said the Centre has already sanctioned the project to convert the valley into a tourist site.
An amount of Rs 1.85 crore has been released under tourist destination development scheme during the current financial year 2007-08, he said.
The tourism department has initiated steps to improve infrastructure along the route from Nowgam to Bangus valley, he said.
