INTERIM Prime Minister Commodore Bainimarama says to single out the incident where two Australian nationals were robbed on their yacht and use it as a weapon to attack our tourist industry is pointless and outright misleading.

Cmdr Bainimarama said there is no reason for alarm by the International community as the tourism and travel world knows that Fiji is by far the safest tourism destination in the South Hemisphere.

Recently Fiji was voted ahead of Vanuatu and the United States in a tourism destination survey for family travel, and this speaks volumes of what our tourism industry has to offer the world, he said.

Cmdr Bainimarama said Fiji has attractive and extensive cruising sea areas and very well placed to attract a large section of this nautical tourism market worth millions of dollars
