A lifeguard and another hotel staff rescued a 70-year-old woman from drowning at the Pacific Islands Club's swimming pool in San Antonio Thursday morning.

Responding medics brought Gyu Ok Lee, a Korean tourist, to the Commonwealth Health Center where she was treated for fluids in the lungs. She was later released.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said yesterday that on Thursday at 11:23am DPS received a report of a possible drowning incident at PIC.

Preliminary investigation showed that Lee was seen being pulled out of the pool by her son, Mun Bok Choi.

An on-duty lifeguard, Darrel Roligat, immediately ran to the scene and assisted Choi in pulling Lee out of the pool.

Roligat, with the assistance of PIC sports director Cole Pritchard, administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the tourist.

When Lee finally regained consciousness, she was placed in a recovery position until medics arrived and brought her to CHC.
